Three little teeth

Three teeth went missing this week.

Calvin pulled his out on his own on Tuesday after school. Finally. It had been barely hanging on for several days. I think he was inspired to do the deed by his little sister...

...who got her top two front teeth virtually knocked out on the playground at school.
Tuesday was a traumatic day. Mommy stayed calm taking Suzana to Urgent Care, and nursing her wounds. (Luckily no stitches were needed in her lip). Mommy even stayed fairly calm while the dentist looked at Suzana in the early afternoon and I finally got a good look inside her mouth since picking her up from pre-school, and was confronted by what certainly was not a normal presentation of her teeth. Until, that is, he muttered the following "No good options here. We'll have to extract her top front teeth." Then my tears wouldn't stop. Suzana wasn't thrilled when I told her the news either, but was pacified rather quickly when I reminded her about the tooth fairy and promised ice cream after the procedure.

She didn't really eat or drink much for two days and wouldn't even take pain medication. She drooled a lot and wouldn't talk. I was starting to freak out more and sorely missed my vivacious spunky little girl. But then, because I had to, on day 3 we ran some errands, and I let her ride the carousel at the mall. When she told me she was hungry and suggested a donut, I knew she was going to be okay.

Now, it is apparent that she is quite proud of the gaping whole in her mouth. She likes that she looks more like Calvin. She is telling and showing everyone about the ordeal. And, did you know that it didn't even hurt when the dentist took out her teeth? Praise God for laughing gas, numbing gel, and novacaine, and an amazing pediatric dentist with the gentlest approach.

Calvin, after the thrill of the tooth fairy visiting him, and the initial caring brother reaction, started to get slightly annoyed by all the extra attention his sister was getting. Even though, she did share her orange sherbet push-pops with him:
